 Welcome to Wokka Art.
 Works by Kevin Williams.
Wokka Art is based out of Newcastle, Australia.

This website presents an overview of Kevin Williams' artwork over the past decade. A period which has seen his work displayed both throughout Australia and overseas. His work is vast, ranging from traditional style aboriginal art, to abstracts, right through to the less conventional like surfboard murals.

Kevin is a descendant of the Wakka Wakka aboriginal people, from what is now called, central southwest Queensland. One of his earliest memories of the area is when he visited the site of a Bora ring on one the properties where his father worked. Kevin recalls that afterwards he spent a great deal of time drawing circles in the dirt with a stick.

His traditional paintings depict the land where where he comes from and the country where he has lived. The images illustrate the Australian bush, and these dry, desolate areas are depicted in the browns, blacks, whites and desert-like colours which he uses.

Aboriginal identity and culture are the dual themes of Kevin's artwork, much of which he calls "Minimalist Indigenous Art": a play on the Aboriginal word Mia Mia, which is the name for a shelter made of bark and wood.
Kevin also paints multi coloured abstract works particularly using vibrant colours such as reds, oranges and blues.
He has also ventured into painting objects such as surfboards, benches, refrigerators as well as other items that are 'different'.

Please take the time to look around and appreciate Wokka Art ...
